I knew they existed, I mean I read blogs about them. A girl on my squad was praying like crazy for one, but I never thought I would be on one. I had always assumed I would be in a team of mixed gender. But God knows what he is doing and blessed those who choose our teams with wisdom and so I am on an ALL GIRLS TEAM!!

Im gonna push pause on the introduction of my team tho. I first want to tell you about how God let me in on this secret during the first few days of training camp. Who our teammates were going to be was at the fore front of many of our minds. I even discussed it with fellow racers when they picked me up from the airport on friday night. I didnt really worry about it to much, after all I did not know my squad mates that well yet so I could not really say who I would or would not want to be on a team with. Within the first few days of camp after getting to know others a lot better, I discovered I was thinking of my teammates as women. The men on our squad are amazing! dont get me wrong there they are loving guys who have Gods heart in them, but I could not picture being on a team with any of them.

Going into training camp I new I wanted to be open with everyone and not hide behind who I had let myself be at home when I got uncomfortable. God had worked my heart with his hands into something new and beautiful and I wanted to show it off to my new family. I  was thankful with every opportunity to share my story with my new family, but especially with the women of God around me. After only a few amazing yet simple moments of friendship and sharing with fellow women squad mates I knew that I was blessed beyond belief. They are all so beautiful and special and in love with God. Thats when I first started thinking maybe I would be on an all girls team. By Wednesday I new for certain, I wont go into details, I dont want to spoil training camp for any future racers, but well I was 100% positive about being on an all girls team by the end of the first team exercise we did.

I can not wait to go on this amazing journey around the world serving with and growing closer to these beautiful women!!

Meet team Tikkun Olam

from left to right Mary, Julia, Ashley F, me, Hannah, Lydia and our lovely team leader Lindsay!!

Tikkum olam is a hebrew phrase which means “repairing the world”. This phrase means more than that tho, it is a concept of healing and restoring the world with the creator . We choose this name because we want to be a team that goes out to heal and be healed by our creator, the one and only God.

I am still in need of financial help as are some of my teammates and we could always use your prayers! Thank you!!
