In this true story my team was able to reap the harvest from the seed planted from a prayer cried out to God.
It all began in North Nepal where a pastor heard of many extremely poor low cast villagers freezing to death, so he did the best thing he could.
PRAY
He sent a prayer request to his friend in New York who put that prayer into action.
He sent out request for money to his church and he himself gave money. Soon enough they had raised quite a bit of money to buy around 100 blankets.
Here in the story we go back to Nepal to a team that is in Northern Nepal.
They were able to purchase the blankets and two of their men were elected to take the blankets via public bus down to South Nepal.
Enter my team in this amazing story.
We were in South Nepal working with the father in law of the man who prayed.
The boys arrive late one evening with the blankets they eat dinner and go to bed and leave early in the morning.
Out contact has worked with other local pastors in finding people who are in need of blankets and so one day they all come to the church we are working with to hear the gospel, learn worship songs and receive their blankets. Each member of my team gets to personally hand out blankets to the poor villagers.
There were around 70 men and women there and it made such a beautiful sight to site in the back of the church and look at the beautiful colorful saris and watch the faces light up as we handed them their blankets.
My team then spent several days visiting the people in their villages and taking photos of them wrapped up in their new blankets standing in front of their broken down mud and bamboo huts with their dirty children standing with them.
We prayed over them and held hands with the children who swarmed us from village to village.
We found more people in need and passed out more blankets.
Courtney was able to lead a young homeless couple to christ.
Mary preached the gospel to a group of beautiful children and prayed over them.
We all got goose bumps as she raised her hands to pray and the kids did the same too.
We crossed sandy dried river beds and small creeks. We walked in the sun and the cold.
At some points it was hard, we weren't really sure of if what we were saying was being heard or if what we were doing was important.
Well it all came together for me at a later point, but I will get back to the story, to the harvest.
After out last church service Uncle(our contact) ask us if we would like to go pray for sick women.
We are ushered over to the school yard where there is a crowd of 30-40 women. We were not exactly sure what they were there for, we guessed to get blankets.
Uncle called the sick women over and informed us as best he could what ailed them.
We prayed. He said ok you can be done. We stood, unsure of what to do. I mean that was it?
No that was not it. God had bigger plans than that.
Mary had us pray once more for all the women then she bugged Uncle to let her talk to the women. She squatted down with them and shared a sweet story about her friend Jesus who could also be their friend.
Then she asked if any women were healed. Yes one said, half way answered another.
She was mine, the half way healed women, I walked up asked if I could pray for her ankle again. She answered yes. I prayed, She said she was healed all the way.
Healing.
Healing rained down from that point on, women were walking up to me pointing to the parts of their bodies that needed healing and so I prayed. God answered. He poured out his healing power that day and used 7 girls in south nepal, a team and pastor in North Nepal and a man and his church in America to bring healing and salvation to men and women in South Nepal.
I only know this full story because of one of the team members who helped pick out the blankets. She wanted to know if we knew what happened to them. When I told well yes, in fact we got to hand them out to the men and women directly then go see them in their homes and pray for them and heal them it made it all click into place. She screamed in delight and gave me a great hug.
The harvest if not always what we picture, sometimes we get lost in the fields of wheat, we dont realize all the beauty and good that is happening in the moment. Sometimes it takes a person who helped the seeds grow to put things into perspective.
I am so glad to have this month in Nepal forever in my memory. I am so thankful for all the people who have helped me get here, for all the world racers who went to my contact before me and visited the villages before me.
I am so thankful for the chance to reap the harvest.
