Every time I heard it was time to go evangelizing, I froze inside and was not very excited to say the least. But every time something amazing came from it.
I finally realized every time I’m about to do God’s work or will, I get hit by the enemy…yelling at me to turn the other way, that I’m not good enough, I don’t have enough faith, I’m going to mess it up, all of these lies. When I continue and press on though, God shows up and something big comes from it.
I realized that when Satan attacks me, it is because he knows God is about to move and he doesn’t want that to happen and will do whatever it takes to try to stop it. So, when I get this feeling of Satan attacking me, I should actually get excited for what’s about to happen, because God is about to do something amazing.
First day we went evangelizing we met a man named Johnjo who said he was addicted to cigarettes; therefore, not being able to come to Christ and told us to come back next week. We spoke some truth and respectfully agreed that we would come back next week.
The following week we had a different translator with us but we remembered that Johnjo said to come back. So, we requested to go back and meet with him. As we approached his house I again got that feeling of what can we possibly say that will help him understand that you don’t have to be perfect before coming to Christ. The enemy threw lies into my head but I shook it off and kept on walking. Renee gave a word to him that she had received for him and we were able to just speak life into him and encourage him. After talking with him for about 30 minutes he decided that he wanted to have a personal relationship with Christ and so we prayed for him and then prayed for his house. We were able to encourage him and let him know that Christ wants to help him through his circumstances and that he doesn’t need to do it on his own.
Gained a brother in Christ due to not letting the enemies lies get to me and trusting in the Lord that he would show up.
After having such a great experience happen you would think that I would then be excited to do evangelizing the following time, but again I was hesitant and not looking forward to it. Satan again was attacking me and giving me doubts that something like that would happen again. BUT, I kept on walking and praying that God would change my attitude and that he would lead me in the direction he wants me to go.
We knocked on a gate like usual and inside I was hoping no one would answer, which no one did…right away at least. Donald, a helper on the property who lives outside of the main house in his ‘guest house’, opened the door. We were already up the street a ways but heard him and turned back. As we walked closer I started to get more excited for what was about to happen and I was right on. We learned that he had been struggling with drugs and sexual immorality. He had recently been going to church due to his brother encouraging him to do so, but was still surrounded by this sin. We again were able to speak some truth into his life and share some testimonies. We told him that when God sent his one and only son to die on the cross, that his blood broke off all chains and that he no longer has to carry any of that weight on his shoulders. After encouraging him and talking with him for about an hour or so he recommitted himself before the Lord.
As we were walking back to the church, Renee and I were sharing how we both were hesitant about going evangelizing but then what good came from it. That’s when it finally clicked in my head that when Satan attacks and sends lies my way, that something good is most likely about to happen that he doesn’t want to happen.
Go out in faith and trust that God will show up, he will!
