Happy friday!
Hopefully this blog finds you well. I pray that each of you are having a great day! I guess maybe I shouldn’t have said happy Friday because I just realized people could be reading this at any point in time. So I guess happy (insert the day of the week here)!
I know I posted last Friday, but I am just trying to get used to sharing with you guys. I appreciate all of you that follow my blogs and take the time to read them. It truly means a lot to me and I pray that each one of these encourages you and speaks to you in some way.
Today I wanted to share with you what a day at LCU (lifestyle christian university) looks like.
So a typical day at LCU goes like this
8:30 we worship
9:00 to 11:30 we have some type of teaching on practical lessons and teachings for a Christian lifestyle
11:30 to 1:00 is either an elective, life group, or outreach depending on what day of the week it is.
Today is Friday which means outreach day! And this is where I wanted to share. So LCU is meant to train and equip people to live a LIFESTYLE of christianity. This means fulfilling the great commandment love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind and love others as you love yourself. (Paraphrase of Matthew 22:36-40) This also means fulfilling the great commission go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father the son and the holy spirit and teaching them to obey my commands. (Paraphrase of Matthew 28:16-20 and my own emphasis added).
So these verses I have just mentioned are meant for ALL believers. Not just the super spiritual ones. Not just the pastors that are preaching. Not just the people who go to ministry school. Not just the ones that go to bible college. We are ALL called to love God. Love People. Make disciples. (Also did you know that you live in a Nation? So you don’t have to go TO a nation you can share right where you are if you are in another nation awesome that’s great but wherever you are you are in a nation).
So I just wanted to share a practical way to do this. It’s really not as hard or scary as it sounds. So the verse that I have been meditating on lately is John 10:27 it says my sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me. So I personally have been pushing into that praying Lord your word says your sheep know your voice. Let me hear your voice. Let me know when you are speaking. Teach me how to follow you. In doing so I have been practicing things like this from today…..
My friend and I are getting ready to go on outreach. We are standing in the Lobby at school and we are trying to decide where to go. We say a prayer and ask Holy Spirit where we should go. My friend hears the word coffee. I hear the word snow. So we end up finding a coffee shop that is located on a street named snow something. We are like cool let’s go there! We get there and the Lord is so awesome because since it’s our first time there we actually got free coffee. (Its called 151 coffee, it’s a small local coffee shop that is amazing and they give free coffee to first time customers as a thank you if you are in the Watauga TX area and and to check it out). That was an awesome blessing. Our waitress got our order and went to make our coffee as she is gone I hear the word dance. So she comes back out and we talk a little bit then I ask her do you dance? She replies with a yes. So then my friend is like hey Jesus loves you. He loves you so much that we prayed about where to go today and this is how we ended up here and He gave Michelle the word dance for you. We got to talk to her a little bit more and just love on her and let her know Jesus loves her. We also encountered a few other people today as well and got to pray with them and invite them to our encounter nights on sundays.
I share this story with you in Hope’s to encourage you. To strength your faith. The Lord is always speaking to us. He speaks to us in so many different ways because he is personable so he speaks to each of us in ways that we understand, but he does speak. Today I felt was an answer to my prayers because like when I hear the word snow I was thinking it was just me. I was thinking I’m in Texas, it’s hot, it’s still basically summer, why on earth am I thinking snow? Then when we found the place I was like ohhh ok wow Jesus. Then when I kept hearing dance I was like where is this coming from why am I hearing it? I just stepped out on a limb and randomly ask pur waitress if she danced. I was honestly kind of shocked when she said yes.
I was very encouraged with how today turned out. To be able to share the love or Jesus and to see him and the Holy Spirit at work was amazing. So I want to just leave you again with John 10:27 which says my sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me.
