Hello, friend!

Thank you for checking out my blog!  This is my very first post (though if you want to learn more about what I’ve been doing click on ABOUT ME!)  I never thought that I would write a blog.  I must admit that I have thought about it then discarded the idea due to my writing skills and procrastination. (just being honest.)  Nevertheless, this is happening and I am excited to record God’s story on this page.

So I bet you are wondering: 1. What is World Race? 2. Is it like the Amazing Race?

I’m glad you asked! No, I am not going on the Amazing Race (though that would be crazy and awesome!)  World Race is a program of an interdenominational missions organization, named Adventures in Missions.   A short version: the World Race is a mission trip to 11 countries in 11 months (in my case, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Cambodia, Vietnam, Albania, Serbia, Romania, Ethiopia, Uganda and Rwanda to be exact).   Through partnerships with ministries around the world, the World Race sends young people (Racers) to serve, to pray and to share the hope of Jesus Christ.

The first World Race took place in 2006 and since then it has grown like crazy.   They have sent over 3,500 Racers to the field.  I am extremely grateful that there are so many that have gone before me and that the internet gives me free access to all their insights – packing lists, vlogs, tips, etc!

The World Race emphasizes discipleship and deeply connecting to Jesus through listening to His voice. In August, I will go on a 10-day training where I will meet my team.  My team, six to eight Racers, will be who I live with for the next 11 months. We will be living shoulder to shoulder doing our ministry and travelling together.  (I won’t be alone!)  Discipleship is about becoming more and more like Jesus – to be kingdom-focused and committed to following where He leads.  With my team, we will be doing that together around the world.

Ok, so what will I really be DOING?

While in the different countries, I will be serving according to the need and the ministries located there.  One month, I may be serving in an orphanage, preparing VBS and loving on kids.  In another country, I may help encourage and build up the local church and their leaders.  Another, I may serve with organizations that fight against human trafficking.  I read something about not having expectations of how God will use me on this race; I must admit that is hard.  But I do know I want to follow His lead and be ready to proclaim the gospel in whatever ministry I encounter.

I will launch in October 2018; meaning I will be packing my bag and flying to the first country in October.  But this adventure starts now!

Right now, I am preparing.  Honestly, I still need to write out a list of everything I need to do – vaccinations, new driver’s license, what to pack, etc.  Another major preparation is (yes, the dreaded word) fundraising.  But really, it’s not dreadful because this is a chance to invite you into this God story. I believe that God has called me to this mission and I know God is going to do great things.  I am inviting partners to come alongside me and see what God is doing.

During the Christmas season, God opened my eyes to how He orchestrates events just perfectly to be our great Provider.  In Matthew, he tells of how Jesus and his parents were stuck in Bethlehem, they were poor and sacrificed the minimum cost according to the law.  But, at just the right time, the wise men arrived giving gifts that made it possible for this little family to flee to Egypt and escape persecution.

So, I have faith that God will provide.  He is boundlessly rich and has perfect timing.  But, like I said, the story for how He will provide is just beginning.  If you would be interested in partnering with me PLEASE send me an email and I would love to talk to you about it! Or, click Donate! and give now. 🙂

I need to raise $18,700. But, I have a few ideas up my sleeve to make that happen.  My current fundraiser is a new t-shirt my friend helped me design! (Who doesn’t wear/want a T-shirt??? ?)  I am super excited about this T-shirt.  There is a sweet MAP on it! And not only does it help support me and bring me closer to my goal; but it could be a great reminder or conversation starter!  Click on the link and pick out your color! →Bold in Christ T-shirt!

**Again, if you would be interested in learning more about the World Race or just to talk to me please contact me!

Until next time, be bold in Christ!
