Today we walked down a street in Tirana asking this question. One girl said she didn’t really have anything except to travel. Another guy starts talking about the lack of jobs and income in Albania. We keep talking with him and he said he believes in God. But there was hurt and expectations from churches that he had experienced in the past.
Later, we walked on and met a group that was on their lunch break. We told them about our 11 in 11 trip. We asked them about their job at the call center, their awesome ability to speak three languages and the intensity of it in their job, we talked about hobbies and dream jobs.
It was a hour of reaching out and getting uncomfortable. We didn’t share the gospel. We didn’t even ask to pray for them. We just listened (which locals here tells us the Albanians love to talk!) But it is truly beautiful to listen to people’s stories and remind ourselves that God created and loved this person, these people.
Without them knowing, I prayed for them in that moment. And even now I pray God used our conversations for His purpose and good. I am here as a vessel, but God is already here working and doing.
