Today I was Jesus. We did a sketch for the song Everything by Lifehouse. Be looking for the video on Facebook.
There’s a couple of things, that God impressed on me while we practiced and performed.
First, the love that Jesus has for us is so much. I’ve been reading J.I. Packer and he wrote, “‘this is true love to any one,’ said Tillotson, ‘to do the best for him we can.’ This is what God does for those He loves — the best He can; and the measure of the best that God can do is omnipotence! Thus faith in Christ introduces us into a relation big with incalculable blessing, both now and for eternity.” God gave us His best, first in Jesus’ death and resurrection and then in the power of the Holy Spirit IN us.
Second, the sketch demonstrates how sin distracts and separates the us from our relationship with Jesus. Jesus is still there looking on yet He waits for total surrender. In the sketch, I was Jesus and I just kept feeling so sad. I would look at Meagan who was getting ‘hurt’ by sin. But I couldn’t stop it or help until she surrendered.
It reminded me that in our pain and sin, Jesus is still there. He feels the pain we feel and He understands. He’s trying to get our attention and give us freedom.
I think there are times in our lives, when Jesus is watching our lives and just waiting for us to invite Him into our pain and our sin. I’m learning that Jesus is a gentlemen and He waits for us to receive Him. He wants to heal and free us, but we have got to receive Him, and stop trying to do it ourselves.
Receiving Him means trusting and believing that His Word is true. It means repenting and turning from sin to obey His perfect commands. It means seeking Him with real effort and joy. It means humbly coming down and enjoying His presence.
If you haven’t received Jesus into your heart, don’t delay! He wants a deep and personal relationship with you.
Happy Easter!
