Today Tirana’s streets were filled with people protesting against Albanian’s prime minister.  The church where we stay was about a block away from this huge event.  Roads were closed, half the city was shut down and the presence of security guards and police officers was evident.

It was our adventure day so we planned a trip to the mountains on the outskirts of Tirana.  So while tons of people were walking towards the center, we were driving away from it.  Even on the mountain, the news was on reporting about the protest.

We went outside and looked out across the valley.  Tirana is surrounded by mountains. From our view, we could see the whole city of Tirana and then past it to Durrës and the Mediterranean Sea.  It was beautiful!

At one point, we could also see smoke rising from where the protest was. I’m not sure what it was but I was reminded today, of how small I am.

I saw videos of thousands of people coming together to make change happen.  I saw the grandness of the mountains. I saw the whole city and realized how God loves each person in this city.

How great is our God! He created the mountains, seas and every human. He knows the hairs on our heads.  Too many times, I forget to look up and be in awe of the Maker of Heaven.

Isaiah 40:25-26 “To whom will you compare me, or who is my equal? Asks the Holy One.  Look up and see! Who created these? He brings out the stars by number, he calls all of them by name. Because of his great power and strength not one of them is missing.”

There is chaos and darkness is our world but God is greater. He is light and the darkness can not overcome it. He is worthy of all praise. There is no one like Him.

Let us not forget.
