Hey all,
It is ALMOST officially month 9! Can you believe it?!?? We are going to AFRICA! I have so much I need to share…but first I want to give a shout out to my parents!
These last 8 months, I have been overwhelmed with gratefulness for my parents. No matter what, I know they are supporting and praying for me. They are rockstars!
So here is a quick snapshot of the bestest in the westest parents, Delbert and Linda!
Love you both and thank you for answering my questions!
1. What has God been teaching you the last 8 months?
Dad: To be content with what I have.
Mom: God is in control and we just need to trust Him in everything. Our circumstances do not determine our joy.
2. What has been difficult about your daughter being on the World Race?
Dad: I miss her being here and not being able to communicate as well… video calling is not always that great. I also miss teasing her.
Mom: I have missed her not being at our family events and holidays. It was especially difficult not being able to hug her when her Grandma passed away.
3. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Dad: Linda and I have devotions and prayer together.
Mom: I make coffee, then Delbert and I do a devotion/bible reading together and have prayer to start our day.
4. Who had had the biggest impact on your testimony and why?
Dad: There have been different people in my life—My mom, Pastors and other strong Christians. I have needed each of them at different times during my life to help me grow stronger in my faith.
Mom: My parents because of their influence on me growing up.
5. What is your favorite food?
Dad: Desserts—I like almost everything except those with nuts in them.
Mom: I really like Mexican food.
6. What is a dream you have and hope to do?
Dad: Someday, I hope to slow down.
Mom: I would like to have a motor home and go places, especially somewhere warmer than Kansas during the winter months!
7. What is your favorite bible story or verse and why?
Dad: The resurrection story because without it we would have no hope.
Mom: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
This verse reminds me to trust in the Lord even when we don’t understand.
8. What brings you joy?
Dad: Spending time with my family and relaxing.
Mom: Seeing my kids grow in their relationship with the Lord.
Mom and Dad, you are incredible. Thank you for teaching me and showing me how to have faith. Thank you for supporting me to be bold and live for Jesus. I can’t wait to hug you in 3 short months!
