We were going on a treasure hunt into downtown Granda. I wasn’t sure what it would entail but I’ll tell you it was the best treasure hunt I’ve ever experienced and it still continues. Before setting out on our hunt we were supposed to pray that the Holy Spirit would speak a word (or multiple words) to us. As a team, we prayed and between all of us our words were:

 -Flowers

-Polka Dots

-Chunky Baby Legs

-Lucky Charms

-Popcorn

-An orange

-Pink

-Blue

-Blue Shirt

-Man moving arms

-Dragon

…random right?

After we prayed, we headed out. Honestly, I was skeptical of the whole situation but also really wanting something crazy to happen to let me know that one of my words was spoken from the Holy Spirit. I have never done anything like this before so it’s hard to decipher whether or not it is just yourself thinking of random words in your head. Once we were in town our leader randomly said, “let’s go down this road.” The only store on that street was a flower shop. We thought, “okay, let’s check it out.” There was a lady sitting out front wearing a polka dot shirt and mine and my teammates focus was on a big mini mouse balloon wearing a pink polka dot dress floating inside the store. We greeted the ladies and slowly walked inside and looked at all of their merchandise. We saw in the adjoining room a little chunky legged baby (a year old) napping on a pallet. Shortly after, I heard my team saying our words out loud as they spotted items in the store. There was a banner with four leaf clovers on it. I turned around and saw a small plastic movie theater tub that said Popcorn. One of my teammates even found an orange on the box of a perfume bottle. I’m thinking to myself, “what in the world?” We knew this was the place where we needed to be. Our team of seven prayed over the three women in the shop. I’m still in shock but I know I shouldn’t be. This is God and it was incredible to see Him working and also having my eyes open to his goodness. My teammate and I ended up buying nail polish so we could paint girls fingernails in each country. Later, we realized that the colors of the polish were pink and blue! Not even planned! After our prayer and goodbyes we left the store and walked just around the corner before this older man approached us and started speaking English. His name was David and he was wearing a blue shirt and he used his hands alot when he spoke. While David was speaking I Iooked up and noticed a little girl wearing one pink barrette and one blue barrette in her hair. She was dancing and twirling on the sidewalk. I’m walking around stunned about everything I witnessed thinking to myself, “Is this what it means to have Kingdom eyes? Is this what it feels like? This is awesome!” When my team and I were writing down the words I kept thinking about how strange all of this is but I was also curious to see what would come of it. I wanted to see God in tangible ways, and that was the first time I’ve ever been stopped in my tracks. I have never had an experience like this before so I was thinking that those words could only to be used for that day. I was wrong. The next afternoon we were having a meeting with our host and as he is talking eyes widened as I grabbed one of my teammates shoulders and whispered, “he’s wearing a blue shirt and talking with his hands.” This may not seem like much, but to me, it was one of those mind-blown hand motion moments (which I just did right now that you couldn’t see). As we dismissed from our group I went to read in my hammock (our group has an army of hammocks hung along the porch). I’m walking to my spot and my teammate reaches down and grabs a little plush toy that was hanging from one of the guys hammocks and says, “oh look, a dragon!” I just laughed to myself in my head. I mean, what else is there to say, right? A few days after the hunt, I’m sitting at a coffee shop and I overheard one of my teammates at the next table talking about the team name they thought of for the people who are treasurers in the squad. One of the girls suggested calling their team “Dragons because they guard the treasure.” I feel like I cant even type it into better words than this. If this is a glimpse of what I get to experience over the next eleven months, then bring it on! Spirit lead me.
