“Ask The Lord” aka ATL month is a month on the race that looks very different from the rest of the usual months on the race. And when I say “usual” months on the race hold that term very lightly because there hasn’t been a “usual” month on the race.
ATL month is where we start the month in prayer and ask the Lord where He would like us to serve. As we pray and listen to the Lord’s leading of where He calls us for the month we begin making all of the logistical plans of how to get there and where we will stay. However, praying and asking the Lord where He wants us and how He wants us serving isn’t a one time prayer, daily we ask the Lord where he wants us through out the month and that’s why this month is called ATL.
As a SQL I have the absolute privilege to travel to a different team each month and this month I get to do life with team Warriors. As of right now, the Lord has called us to Athens, Greece! Originally were supposed to be spending the month serving in Macedonia, but were given the opportunity to have an ATL month so here we are in Greece! I did get to spend a week in Macedonia while we were at debrief and it was so neat to see Skopje and some of the historical landmarks in Macedonia!
We have been in Athens for the past 5 days and let me tell you, God has seriously provided us with an awesome month of serving the people of Athens. Here’s a little on what our ATL month has looked like so far:
Minutes before boarding the train to Athens we finally found a place that would lodge us for the month. Praise God! Our apartment is super close to the city center and we are able to all sleep under the same roof and eat at a dinner table altogether every night! We are literally getting a look into what community will look like at home as we all live together, disciple each other, and pour out over Athens.
Our first few days of ATL have looked like prayer walks, passing out sandwiches to homeless men and women on the streets, volunteering at an amazing refugee center, participating in a team bible study, and finding a vibrant international church to be a part of for the month. The Lord has given us some really neat opportunities so far and it’s just the beginning of an amazing month of trusting the Lord and asking Him to guide our feet and hearts as we seek to bring the love of Christ to Athens.
Below is a video recap of our time feeding the homeless in Athens! I encourage you to subscribe to my blog and follow along as the Lord leads us this month. ATL month is the perfect glimpse into what life back home will look like: waking up and asking the Lord how you can serve and be a blessing to someone in that day and then letting Him lead you.
Please be praying for our safety in Athens and for divine appointments to be had on the streets of Athens.
