I’m in AFRICA!
I was 12 years old when a missionary from Africa came to our church. I’ll never forget the tears that ran down my face when he said the Lord is calling some of you to Africa. I thought I was too young. I thought people would laugh if I went to the alter to get prayed for. But I never forgot how the Lord started stirring my heart for the people in Africa. And I knew that ONE day I would go.
Since then I have always had a special spot in my heart for Africa.
I still can't believe I'm actually here!
I love this place. I love people.
Joy. Joy Joy.
Dancing. Singing. Worshiping. Praising.
Everywhere.
These people teach me how to…
Dance like no one is watching.
Sing even if I can’t stay on pitch.
Fall on my knees and PRAY
without ceasing.
They also taught me Oko ka leo- Get saved today!
That was one of the first phrases I was taught.
Door to door evangelizing.
Yep. That is what we have been doing in Nakuru, Kenya.
I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t jumping up and down when I heard we will be doing this.
It actually made me think of when I had to go door to door to sell chocolates for my 5th grade Mohican trip or when I would answer the door to Jehovah Witnesses. The door to door method has never really been my favorite approach.
However, I’ve been called.
“Go into ALL the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
“He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.. sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners… recovery of sight for the blind…release the oppressed… proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."
I carry the good news. I know the answer to eternal life. I personally know THE Savior. He’s changed me- why wouldn’t I want to share it with everyone I possibly can? Even if it means knocking on some doors?
The first week we were with Team Jubilation working with Deliverance Church in Pipeline in Nakuru, Kenya. Pipeline is a poor village where they have an IDP Camp. Most of these families are internally displaced people who have been forced to leave their hometown due to the political violence from the 2007 election.
Say hello to Momma!
She and her husband are the pastors of a new church in Pipeline.
This woman has a determination like I have never seen. She wants everyone to be saved- I mean everyone. And let me tell you- Momma does not mess around. She gets right to the point. You’re lucky if you get a “Jambo, what’s your name?” before a “Are you born again? Do you know Jesus? Are you saved”
I admire her urgency and determination. I want her heart for the lost.
We aren’t guaranteed tomorrow. If someone didn’t know Jesus she would make sure that they heard the gospel and got saved TODAY. “TODAY, is the DAY!” She understands what life and death mean.
Week 2 has been with Team Chi Rho and you guessed it! MORE door to door evangelizing PLUS revival services in the evening.
Every day is full of surprises. You never know what you're gonna get! Some days are really exhausting and I don't know how I'm gonna make it, but then I have those moments where i think..
"I can't IMAGINE being anywhere else right now!"
I've seen lives changed. I've seen true salvation experiences, daily. And it's changed my perspective on door to door. I don't look at it the same.
It's sharing Jesus with everyone I meet and telling them how He has CHANGED my life.
It's loving on everyone especially the beautiful children.
It's heairng their story.
It's speaking life and HOPE.
It's praying for the sick.
It's asking if they want to know Jesus as their personal savior.
It's encouraging our brothers and sisters in the ministry.
& it's spreading JOY everywhere we go.
