4:00pm
Ok so I know… I’ve been a lil behind on my blogs these days. I seriously can't believe this is my last day in India. Where did the time go? I'm not ready to leave yet.
I just had my second cup of chai tea and I’m ready to try to blog it up.
So, there is a big part of the Race that I need to tell you about. Some call it prophesying while others call it speaking truth and life.
The word prophecy has such a bad rap and connotation to it. Many people view it as predicting or telling the future. We all have heard some crazy stories- like, “someone prophesied over me and said in three years I will be living in the jungle.” Or “I see death and destruction in your future.”
Before the race I was asking questions. What does it mean to prophesy? Modern day prophets, really? Was prophesying just for back in the olden days or is it still for today? Lord, teach me what it means! Your word says to desire it… eagerly, readily, willingly, excitedly….so I want it!
1 Corinthians 14:1, “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy."
I’m pretty sure it was the 2nd day of training camp when they taught about prophecy and THEN made us practice on one other (that’s another story for another day). But it changed my entire perspective.
And It’s not as weird as it sounds.
To prophesy is simply to encourage, comfort, and edify one another.
Prophecy means to lean in and hear what God is saying and the ability to be the mouthpiece and speak it out. I have a voice and my voice can speak life. When I speak- LIFE happens and chains can be broken.
Proverbs 18:21- “The tongue has the power of death and life.”
Inhale-Exhale. Inhale- breathe in what God is saying. Exhale- breathe out what God is saying.
If you flip to Ezekiel 37 you can check out what the Lord calls us to do.
See- Hear- Speak- Expect.
Ezekiel saw the dry bones.
He heard the voice of God.
He spoke the “I wills” of God.
He expected God to do it
…and the bones rattled, flesh appeared, breathe entered and a vast army arose…
This is Beuhla.
I met her at a school she works for in the slums.
She had an arranged marriage.
Her husband had a secret relationship before they married.
He left her for the other woman when she was 2 months pregnant.
Beuhla doesn't think there is any hope.
In India's society- she is a disgrace.
She thinks no one will remarry her.
I saw a hope and a future.
And the Lord using her testimony to comfort abandoned women.
A husband that will love her and James- her 2 year old son.
I heard. I prayed. I believe. I expect.
We found this widow sick and desperate in the slums.
Yet the Lord opened our eyes to see health, hope, and joy.
So we prayed. Hearing from the Lord words of life for this woman and spoke out what He impressed on our hearts. We walked out of her home trusting God’s power and putting our faith in the unseen that He brings healing in ways we may not be able to see.
I’ve been praying for spiritual eyes and ears.
To have the ability to see and hear more than what the physical can.
Rather than see death and dry bones I want to see the life waiting to be unleashed.
The beauty that is waiting to be unveiled. To have holy eyes is to see what the Lord sees and ears to hear what He is speaking to me. And the courage to speak those revelations into existence. The trust and expectancy in God’s power.
I’ve been walking and believing in that more each day, each month, each country.
