I am
living in community like never before. I live with five other people 24 hours a
day. We work alongside each other, we sleep next to each other, we grow with
each other. These 5 people are my family for the next 10 months. They are the
people who will see me at my worst and then encourage me. These people are the
ones who will help me become more like Jesus through their actions and love for
me. We do something that is called “feedback” every day. It consists
of encouraging one another, talking about our struggles, and praying for one
another. In the end you know that with this “feedback” you are
becoming a better person, the person God has created you to be. We as a team
have had a pretty intense month. We are growing in trust with one another.
Sharing our struggles and calling each other out. It is hard but it is good.
Are you living in community? Can you share your struggles with others? If you
can be in a community like this…you will see growth.
Our team
is striving to live by the verse: 1 Thessalonians 2:11 “May the Lord make
your love increase for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for
You.”
Now
introducing Team GLO:
Charlotte
aka “Char-latte” is full of joy and makes the entire team laugh with
her goofyness. She is our team cook and is the best person for the job. She
blesses us with her meal planning, her oatmeal cookies (major treat), and her
grocery shopping for six people with a budget sometimes for 3 weeks at a time.
This girl has talent…she is the teams hairstylist…she can make our hair
look great even when it is a sweaty mess. She is also a very talented artist. I
am looking forward to seeing how God uses her talents this year. She will bless
people with her joy, artistic ability, and with her skills in the kitchen.
Liz aka
“Lizzy Bear” is our professional dancer…this girl has a gift of
rhythm that the rest of don’t have. Haha. When she laughs she sounds like a
little chipmunk. When a bug scurries across the floor she reminds us that we
are bigger than they are and not to be afraid. When she prays her voice changes
because you know she is in the moment.
Children bring her the biggest joy and flock to her because of her joy
and laughter. I look forward to see how God molds her this year.
Monica aka
” Mo” is the quiet one of the team…NOT! This girl has totally
opened up and is such a riot to be around. When she laughs she does this
“ahhh” and her mouth opens wide then she starts laughing. It’s soooo
funny. Monica is my running partner and holds me accountable but we also
sometimes just know (but don’t even talk about it when we decide to sleep in
and not exercise). So it is a healthy balance. Haha. Even though we exercise…
we are known as “cookie monsters.” We have good conversations about
life and encourage one another. I look forward to seeing her grow closer to God
and seeing the plan that God has for her life unfold this year.
David and
Catherine aka “The marrieds/The lovelys” Having a married couple on
the team adds such a cool dynamic. We are leaning that Catherine is like the
team nurse. We call her when someone is hurt or has a weird rash. We also are
learning that David has some pretty sweet dance moves. Catherine has been given
a talent like no other. When she opens her mouth people listen. Not only do her
words speak such life into all, she also has an incredible voice. David is the
man of the team. He kills the bugs, steps up to protect all of us, and is very
wise. Having a married couple allows us to see what a young, healthy marriage
looks like when the two people put God first then honor one another. They as
individuals are amazing…and as a couple they are unstoppable.
This is my
team, the people God has chosen for me to walk along side with for the next
year.
Thank you
for lifting all of us up in prayer! Love you all!
