I’ve been avoiding writing a blog for
quite some time now. Last month my team was in Chiang Mai Thailand
working with Lighthouse ministry. So my nights were spend in bars in
a touristy part of town working with bargirls and ladyboys who make
money by selling themselves for a night. I became good friends with
many of the women there. Also got to make friends with several of the
men there for business or holiday. God showed up in many ways and
there are many stories I would like to share, but every time I try to
write about it I can’t. How do I share my friends stories? How to I
portray the reality of what the “redlight district” encompasses?
So I will put that off for some time and let you visit the blogs of
my teammates. Hehe

This month however I am in Nicaragua.
Only took five days of plane/bus/truck bed travel and living February
19th for 40 some hours to get here. 🙂

It’s beautiful here. We are living
outside of Chichigalpa near a volcano and a hour drive from the
ocean. We have giant spiders that love to live in our showers and ants that decided to eat large portions of my sports bra left on the ground. haha! The people here are heartwarming and the children wonderful!  We are blessed.

We are working with Vision Nicaragua which is an
awesome non-profit christian organization with many facets. Last week
we helped paint a church. This involved lots of lead based paint,
sweat, playing with children, and praying that our guys didn’t fall
off the homemade scaffolding. 🙂 Sunday we had a
day off at the beach. First time in the Pacific ocean. Many of my
teammates tried surfing. Perhaps next week I will give it a shot.

Today we visited a
school for the mentally and physically handicapped. At the end of our
visit they said the children wanted to dance. To our surprise Latin
rap music started playing and a dance party broke out. I have to say
they showed up all of our dance moves. It was a good time.

Hope this gives you a little more insight into my journey. I can’t believe it is coming to an end. While some days are tough and it is getting harder to be away from home…I love my life and am falling more in love with my God. He is at work around the world. I’m glad He lets us join in and be his hands and feet! Amen! Hope to write more soon!
