Awhile
ago, I was listening to a Jonathan Helser album. And there was this
track called Moravian Anthem. It was just instrumental for like 2
minutes and so I decided to use it as some prayer background music.
Then the last 30 seconds or so of the song Jonathan starts praying.
Only is like desperate sobbing prayer. And I was really bothered
during the first few seconds. Like oh gosh..keep it together buddy.
Do we really need to always be those weird Christians… But then I
was humbled. I think we need to pray with that intensity. God’s love
and who He is should move us to that kind of passion. He loves us
with an intense kind of passion. It led Him to the cross for us!

See
this song was written about the Moravians. The Moravians were these
crazy awesome God lovers of the 17th century that heart
broke for the lost. You see…

The Moravians
had learned that the secret of loving the souls of men was found in
loving the Savior of men.

They
became overwhelmed with the love of Christ themselves and desperate
to share that with the millions living in darkness and oppressed by
the “rulers of this world”. They felt the weight of the words of
Jesus to go into all nations and make disciples. They were convicted
that the foreigner should also be the reward of Christ’s suffering.

So in the time
of great spiritual darkness throughout the earth….the Moravian sent
out their first missionaries to the Dutch West Indies. They set out
not knowing where their means would come from, what or who they would
meet, and almost total assurance that they would never set foot on
their homeland again. They counted it all lost for the sake of
spreading the message of Christ. And as the first two missionaries
set sail into the unknown and watched home fade away, they shouted,
“May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering.”
The Moravian passion for souls was surpassed only by their passion
for the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ.

And this Easter
weekend I’m am reminded of what my Daddy did for me. That we should live with the passion and total abandon the Moravians did.  How he sent His
son and He is overwhelming me with the depths and goodness of His
love and grace. It’s so sweet I want to scream, weep, and dance! It’s
almost intolerable. And now I’m babbling…but as my journey is
coming to an end ( 19 days) I’m sure of three things.

This world is
broken,

My God is always and forever good.

I’m in love
with Jesus

May our lives
scream…

May the Lamb
that was slain receive the reward of His suffering
