There is a deep contentment I have
found this month. I’ve concluded that its a combo of the simple life
and the great people I’m around. I feel like I’m enjoying the good
things in life this month. A walk, prayer, the breeze, good books,
sleep, good conversation, beauty, new adventures, new friendships.

 So
I’m sitting around the living room wondering A) how much longer will
couches be a part of my life and b)I’m completely content sitting in
this room…we are a bunch of ragamuffins. Having lived with these
people for several months at most or even a few weeks you get to know
their stories. And I couldn’t help by smile to myself as I looked
around the room. Here we are…a bunch of random people sitting
around an African living room. Some reading, some laughing, some
falling asleep, some journal thoughts I know are brilliant….and
then I think of all our stories. Some are divorced, some are cancer
survivors, some have been abused, others are recovering from broken
hearts, apathy, and the american dream. Regardless…we are a random
assortment of God lovers. We are all in the pursuit of similar
things. We all have had different paths that have led us to this
intersection of life where God has called us to Busia Kenya to learn
something about Him and bring His kingdom. Its beautiful really.
Couldn’t have planned something better if I tried.

(I wrote this last month in Kenya…found it on my computer and thought I would share)
