My Life:                     6 things about my life in the past 6 months

1. I changed my route with the World Race from September 2013 to January 2014!

The countries that I will be traveling to are still the same with the exception of the three – India, Nepal, and Cambodia have been exchanged for Honduras, Myanmar (Burma), and the Philippines.  I changed routes for two main reasons. First, this summer I was part of an awesome community in FL and I felt the Lord leading me to stay there longer because there is a lot that He is doing and wants to do there, things that He wants to me to be a part of.  So I stayed throughout the summer in FL, and I will continue to live there in the Fall until a few weeks before WR Launch. Second, I postponed my departure date because I did not have quite enough funds to leave in September.  Staying until January gives me more time to work, to host more fundraising events, and to acquire more individual supporters. Thank you to all who have been faithfully supporting me thus far!!! I pray that the Lord would continue to bless you for your generosity  Click Here to read a Support Raising Update.

2. Life and Community at the Manor

For the past year, I have been praying that the Lord would surround me with good, godly, and supportive women who can encourage me in my faith, and this spring He answered that prayer.  I am so thankful for my cousin Rebecca and the group of girls who meet at the Manor! They have helped set my faith ablaze once again. Thank you Lord that we don’t have to walk through this life alone. We have You and we have Your church!

3. This spring I spent the majority of my time as a nanny for my Nephew Cooper!

I watched him from January to June and loved every minute of it.  God has blessed him with good health, awesome parents, and a super sweet personality! He is now 10 months old and will be 1 year old in November. This time in OH was also great because I lived my grandparents and got to have a deeper relationship with them, and I got to see my sister Leah a lot!! yaay!  (Big Challenge of WR = Not seeing Cooper for 11 months!! He will be so big when I return. Sad. Everyone there in OH will be greatly missed!)

4. I want to get paid to juggle and build sand castles. O wait, I do!

In June, I left Cooper and OH to go back to West Palm Beach where I lived with my roommates from the previous year when I was in school.  We all work for a company called Glass Productions where we do family entertainment – which takes on many forms: juggling, face painting, pirate parties, balloon twisting, DJ dance parties, pajama parties, animal shows, kids camps etc. My bosses are some of the most encouraging, positive, FUN, generous and honest people that I know, and GP is one of the best companies I could ever hope to work for!  So to sum it up, I LOVE my Job ..and my Co-workers!    For all who live in South Florida, Check out Glass Productions!!!

5. Derby: Make new friends and knock them down!

I recently started practicing roller derby with Dub City Derby Girls, and why I didn’t know about this sport sooner, I don’t know. It is SO much Fun!

I hurt my back last September, so it has officially been one year since I herniated two discs in my low back.  I have been in constant and almost immobilizing pain for the majority of this past year.  It wasn’t until I started playing Derby that my back has actually felt better, and now, one year later, I feel almost fully healed! Yaay   Who would of thought that a sport centered around hitting people while standing on skates that like to roll right out from underneath you would be the catalyst for my recovery from an impact sensitive injury.  Lol  …well as long as I don’t fall toooooo much, Derby has been great for strengthening my back!

But besides all the benefits from helping me get healthy, Derby has given me so much more by allowing me to be a part of an awesome team of girls who have easily become like family. I have played sports all my life and it has been about 4 years since I’ve been on a team, and I’ve REALLY missed being on a team. I work so much harder when I have other people that I’m accountable to!

6. HMM?

..I tried to come up with 6 new things because the title: “6 things about my life in the past 6 months” is a lot catchier than “5 Things about my life in the past few months”.  But I only came up with 5….o well
