We have officially finished our first week of ministry and have begun our second and final week in Thailand. This month was a short month of ministry due to the extended initial time we spent doing orientation to the Race and to Thailand. It was a fabulous first week of ministry, but very tiring playing with kids. They have so much energy and never want to see us leave. We had a great weekend and spent the day off just hanging out. Sunday morning, we went to this lovely restaurant around the corner, Butter is Better, and it has fabulous American cuisine to have brunch. It was the perfect way to start my day off with 7-grain French toast, went to the local mall in the afternoon, where I purchased a laundry bag and new cosmetic bag. I was so excited to have gotten these items, as I now feel I am truly ready for the next 10 months. We took a tuk tuk ride back to Zion café, which was very interesting, and I had the privilege of sitting right up front with the driver, almost on his lap. I also got a Thai massage with my wonderful teammate Megan in the afternoon. This may sound soothing to you, but this is not your typical massage. It was rough and involved lots of stretching, I was so sore when I woke up Monday morning. No pain no gain! The massage was well worth it, and I figured when in Thailand, do as the Thai do! We ended the day with a visit to the local night market, an awesome market set up only on the weekends. The trip included dinner of sushi and waffles.

Monday was a really hard and long day for me. Let’s just say the reality of living in very close community with 7 people has hit, and I am ready for it. My team is ready to love and fight for one another, but first we had to lay out more of ourselves than we would want to. Laying ourselves out means being able to understand one another better and pushing us in the right direction. We are striving in our ministry this month and ready to go deeper within ourselves as a team. Please be praying for team holla-lujah and our willingness to go deep with one another.

Our ministry this week looks the same as last week, working with slum kids Mon, Wed, and Fri, and going into the markets every night to play with the children. Monday we had a great day in the slums and was accompanied the last hour with rain. It was very refreshing and really cooled the air down. It was a successful day in the slums for sure. We came home, got dinner and freshened up, then went to the night market and there were 8 kids that came out. As I previously mentioned, Monday was a rough day and I honestly didn’t want to go out to the market, but I did. And let me tell you how the Lord showed up, He provided laughter and much needed laughs. This particular kid came up with jeans, a button up, a hip hat, and a coke. We called this kid “Chunk,” and were entertained by him all night. The whole night he had us rolling, from just sitting there to not wanting to get up after he was picked in Duck Duck Goose. Jesus knew I needed the laughter, and He completely regenerated me. Here is to our final week in Thailand and I ask you to be praying for us to see lots of fruit from our work these 2 weeks.
