Hello to everyone from AFRICA!

News from the home front: we are officially headed to Mozambique within the next few days as soon as our visas are issued. We are currently staying at a base here in South Africa named Alabanza (“Praise”). It is a base for many of the AIM First Year Missionaries as well as other missionaries traveling through! Right now we are about 10 minutes outside the capital city of South Africa – Pretoria – and about 45 minutes outside of Johannesburg.

Skipping back, however, it ended up being quite the extensive trip to get here from Buenos Aires. After a VERY long plane ride (14 hrs? 16? 25? Who knows. I lost count after about six!) we spent our 12 hour layover touring London. It ended up being quite the interesting day. Fueled on pure adrenaline (we had only actually slept a couple of hours on the plane) we hit pretty much every big site via the infamous red double decker tour bus. Here are some shots of the day … overall, despite the exhaustion, it ended up being super fun and a once in a lifetime opportunity.

After our very long day in London, we spent another long 10 hours on our flight into Johannesburg, South Africa. Needless to say, by the time we landed, we were pretty much dead. After a short day of rest here at Alabanza, we ended up racing on Sunday. The teams started in Pretoria and we eventually made our way by train into Johannesburg. Our stops on the race included the J-Burg Zoo (I’ve never paid money to run through a zoo before!), the Apartheid Museum (Beautiful – told the story and history of the discrimination, segregation, intolerance, and race struggle that this nation has undergone), and the “Top of Africa” (a 50th story lookout point where we could see the entire city). This was where the race ended … and where Team Agapetos came in 1st place! Wahoo! J You can check the other Team Agapetos blogs for pictures from the race.

For right now we are at Alabanza resting up before we leave for Mozambique – another 2 day drive! Because of the lack of internet this next month, I would suggest checking other blogs in case I am not able to write myself if you would like to keep updated.

Until next time, love and blessings from Africa! Michelle
