I’ve decided that I have officially visited
heaven on earth.
Guatemala is gorgeous.
These pictures do not even do it justice.
I also have decided that I never want to travel by plane ever again.
Granted, the bus and van rides that we have taken have been
miserably long at times … but the beauty we have seen over the course of our journeys has made it all worth it.
There were times during yesterday’s drive that we were actually driving
in the clouds as we made our way through the mountains.
Crazy.
As for the race … it landed us here in Antigua on Sunday night … not many fun details
there – my team was over 2 hours behind the winning team.
Our driver in Mexico convinced us that he knew a “shortcut” to the Guatemalan border.
We all saw how well that worked out.
Ha.
Our “extra” time in the van though ended up being really good for our team.
We were able to have some good conversation and prayer time for Guatemala … as well as jam out to some late 80’s/early 90’s music that our van driver, Luis, provided for us.

Monday morning, however, the race continued with prayer time at a place called Cerra De
La Cruz.
I’ve included pictures here – it was a beautiful hilltop spot overlooking the entire city of Antigua … including the
ginormous volcano in the background.
Which (by the way) semi-erupted the other night and I was able to experience my
FIRST EVER EARTHQUAKE!
Nothing big, but way cool!
This city itself is absolutely breathtaking.
Many have described it as having a very European feel to it … lots of little cafes everywhere and a huge plaza in the center of the city as well.
We will spend one week here working
in several different locations … possibly an orphanage and then a drug rehab center.
Hopefully I will be able to blog again before we head out next Sunday for Costa Rica.
Good times.
That’s all I’ve got for now though … Please pray that we would make the most out of the time we have here in Guatemala!
Love you all!
