Take a minute with me to recall the images of Hurricane Katrina and the destruction of the Gulf Coast.
  What stories comes to mind?
  What pictures?

.
  .

Imagine a similiar devastation to that all over again.
  The flooding.
The mass chaos of thousands of people and families displaced.
  The death.
  The disease.
The loss of property and livelihoods.

 .

Now … Imagine these same things happening in a 3rd world country.

.

.

Mozambique
is currently recovering from a flood that’s destruction has ruined thousands of lives.  Have you heard about it?
Have you seen it on the news channels?
Have you seen images or heard stories of the disaster?

.

Chances are … probably not.
After all, floods in 3rd world countries don’t really hold rank next to other “important” news in the States.

 .

Picture flooding like that in New Orleans – except this time in a small village in Africa.
This village, not comprised of concrete or steel, is literally swept away.
Muddy water and debris are all that remain.

No food, no clean water, no housing.
The livelihoods of the people – the maiz crops – all destroyed.  No medicine to ward off the potential problems of malaria or cholera.  And … no media coverage to tell the world of the disaster.

.

Are thousands of lives in Africa the
same as thousands of lives in New Orleans or the Gulf Coast

?
  If
yes, then why haven’t you heard about the story and the flooding?
Why isn’t it a larger issue?
  And if
no, why not?

Within this next month, the World Race team will be attempting to enter the country of Mozambique to help assist there in the recovery and relief efforts.
Throughout the next few weeks, we will relay specific needs as we discover them.
For now, however, I simply ask that you begin to pray for the country and people of Mozambique.
Please pray that the Lord would begin to prepare
our hearts for what we are about to enter into as well.

Finally, I would ask that you would attempt to seek out more information about the events taking place in Mozambique and that you would begin to inform
others as well.
We must be accurately informed before anything
can or
will be done.
I appreciate your concern and thought over this.
  Blessings to each of you.
