Dear Friend,
In April, I will be graduating from Computer Science at the University of Waterloo. During the past five years of working and doing full-time school, I’ve begun to feel a desire to experience the world beyond my specific experiences. I have generally enjoyed school and the work opportunities I’ve had, and I do want to continue to work in my field, but I’ve felt a passion to see God work in different circumstances. I have felt the Lord call me to go beyond what is comfortable for me and to truly allow myself to depend on him.
I have decided to take a year off after school and go on a missions trip. The World Race is a short term missions trip where I will partner with a team to go to 11 countries in 11 months, leaving in July. Along the way, I will partner with ministries and organizations in each country to serve God, speak about Jesus and to love people. The program is also designed to encourage a lifestyle of abandonment and seeking God for the participants. There are elements of training and teaching in order for me to further learn what serving really looks like.
I am truly unequipped for this kind of journey, but I am excited to adventure and seek God. There are a lot of unknowns and a lot of ways that I am unprepared and I understand that I cannot do this adventure alone. I believe that God has been preparing me and growing my faith for awhile, and if, by now, I’ve had the opportunity to serve with you, learn from you and live with you, I’m truly grateful. You’ve already partnered with me and given me wisdom and experiences that I will take with me.
Going forward, I could use more even more support. Would you pray for and with me? I would love prayer for my faith to increase, for God to work in the trip and for safety. A trip like this also has a large financial cost. The trip itself, plus insurance is a bit over $16,000 USD. I also have to purchase equipment and fly to training camp as well as the departure and return locations. Would you ask God if he wants you to financially invest in my trip as well? I would appreciate your support, but I in no way want to you to give out of pressure or expectations. These donations will go to the organization operating the trip, Adventures in Missions. They are based in the United States, so, unfortunately, donations are likely not tax deductible in Canada.
