I heard an awesome lyric by Jason Upton this weekend…. “I’m gonna find me a river in the middle of a desert land”

Check out John 7:37-39 I included 3 different scripture translations below to illustrate (I loved the slight differences in verbiage); and the other verses I listed below

How packed with meaning! When we choose to connect with the Lord (see the AMP version: who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me), even in the midst of the driest desert, will have rivers of living water to flow from within us! We are an oasis for those being scorched by the heat, freely offering up the refreshment, and sustenance, and shelter, and life that comes from a relationship with Christ!

Would you take some time to meditate on the scriptures below and ask the Lord to show you how you can find the river in the middle of the desert? Maybe you feel like you are the desert these days. Ask Him to be the river of living water that breathes life into this dry time in your life….and then who cleave to and trust in and rely on Him. Maybe your family, or workplace, or friends don’t know the Lord and they are the desert. Ask Him to show you how to offer life to those wandering in the sand.

World Racers bring the River to the Desert, inviting people to Christ. When World Racers feel like a desert….we cleave to, trust in, and rely on Jesus.

What is the desert in your life? How can you find life, and offer life to others through Christ?

John 7:37-39

 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (NIV)

 37On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted, “If you are thirsty, come to me and drink! 38Have faith in me, and you will have life-giving water flowing from deep inside you, just as the Scriptures say. 39Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit, who would be given to everyone that had faith in him. The Spirit had not yet been given to anyone, since Jesus had not yet been given his full glory.  (CEV)

37Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! 38He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. 39But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor). (AMP)

Psalm 1:2-4 (NASB)
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

 4 The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

Jeremiah 17:7-9 (NIV)

 7But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
   whose confidence is in him.

8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
   that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
   its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
   and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:5-7 (NIV)

 5 This is what the LORD says:

   “Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
   who draws strength from mere flesh
   and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
   they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
   in a salt land where no one lives.

 7But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
   whose confidence is in him.
