I want to live an epic life…wearing love like armor, going boldly into the darkest places, speaking life like a flash bang, using prayer like a chain saw. I want to see these souls around me as worthy of fighting for. But instead I’m sitting here, stumbling over discontentment, with my eyes to the ground, pouting like a child with her arms folded because she is board and wants to go home. I laugh a little out loud as I write, knowing that this sentence is unnecessarily true. I know what I need to do next! I need to take on the beast of the financial burden that holds me down (student loans). I must first slay this dragon. Boring as it sounds, it can be epic in and of itself if I would just run hard and fast toward freedom. It will take years to defeat this beast, but I cannot truely move on till he’s slayn.
But my epic life is happening now! If I would just take off these dang headphones and be accessible to those around me, and be attentive to what the Spirit is saying. I know there are people in this very room who He wants to speak to. What are you saying Lord? Let me hear, let me pray, let me go and tell them!
What will it take for you to live an epic life? Maybe you are! Maybe you want to be. Maybe you think that’s for someone else. I invite you to see that your life can be an epic adventure, a journey of perilous trust, gripping faith, and hilarious bloopers. Open your eyes. Who do you see. Open your ears. What is God saying to them. Open your mouth. Be willing to look foolish… for their sake. I’ll do the same :0)
My Epic God…
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?” For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.” Rom 11:33-36
