TukTuk (That’s not the name, but its public transportation and that’s what I call it) here can take a minute. It is not like a bus with stops and routes. It is more like a shared Taxi. You flag them down in the street, tell them where you want to go, and if they are going that way, you negotiate a price. Sometimes you have to wait through 10-15 TukTuk’s before you get one who will take you where you want to go, for the price you can afford to pay. Once inside, there is no telling how long it will take to reach your destination. Instead of going straight there, he continues along his path, adding new passengers and trying to take a route that makes sense based on whoever is in the back with you. Who is dropped off first or last has more to do with the route than it does with when you were added to the caravan. That said, you can have some very interesting conversations while bumping along. Many of the people I have met are also travelers passing through. Men and women from all over the world, in Chaing Mai for any number of reasons.

The man who left home many years ago never to look back, the women traveling for a sport tournament, the a missionary couple in town for a conference on Buddhism, the friends traveling on holiday, and many more…each connection felt like the birth of what could be a beautiful friendship.
Some of these friendships even took place outside a TukTuk, like My new friend who is already following along my blog after we met by the lake. Some racers and I were laughing and talking and enjoying the breeze when we met. Hi Friend! You know who you are :0)
The thing I love most about divine appointments is you never know when they will happen, or what the result will be! It is an encounter that comes directly from God…..you know it’s a divine appointment because you can feel it…feel it in your bones….like a spark yearning to burst into flame!
I hope to stay in contact with my new friends and look forward to learning from one another! This World is so big, and I serve a God who knows all things, and is always faithful (blog to follow).
