Ministry in Estonia is a lot different than it was in Africa. One of the main things we are doing here is connecting with young adults through the youth groups. There are a lot of young people hurting in this nation, and God has called us to minister to them. Our team already loves them. In just a few nights, we have already had such fun with them. They are not much different from us, except that a lot of them do not know The Lord. Please pray for them and for us as we build relationships this month.

Thinking about our time so far here, I was reminded of a poem I wrote a while ago and felt called to share it. It is a poem from the perspective of Jesus to a young woman.

Unrequited

I was there when the darkness
hit you saw you fall apart
the offences of the world
fell upon your body
stripped your innocence as easily
as it stripped your clothes
and I felt every inch of suffering
tens of times more intensely
but you
did not feel me

Every day I see you
I hear you cry
I wait with patience
but you do not see me
you sit in a corner curled
reach into the emptiness
for anyone anyone but me

Anyone becomes him
in a dark back alley
playing cat and mouse
but it wasn’t a game to you
and I stood in your presence
as you stood with him
face to face
where I should have been

Later you cry again
your tears would be hot
upon my shoulder
if only
your hurts
would be healed with my touch
if only
I want to rip away
what has us severed
the wound may bleed but we’d be better
I stand with arms outstretched
but you leave them empty
and look away
