God has a sense of humor.
He likes to take something I expect to happen and flip it upside down and inside out. The fact that I’m doing The World Race is living proof of that. That being said, I think sometimes having expectations can be dangerous. People and things can let you down greatly when your expectations are unreasonable or misplaced. And when you expect something, especially the wrong thing, and it doesn’t happen, you can be left feeling bitterly disappointed.
God does not disappoint.
So when I expect that He will do great things in me and through me and around me while on The World Race, I know I will not be disappointed. I don’t know what it will look like or the level of intensity it will achieve, but I know He will be working. I know that if I expect what He promises, I will not be let down.
God promises great things.
And these are only a few of the promises I expect to encounter in a real and tangible way on this trip:
He has a plan for me, and it is for my good.
He will give me strength when I am weak.
He will supply all my needs.
His love for me and for all his people is forever and always.
But my greatest expectation—
God will show Himself time and time again.
And my goal is to watch carefully, and not miss a thing.
