Well, this isn’t the most exciting blog post, but it is necessary! I have started to have people donate to me and it makes me so thankful that people are willing to join me in this mission. At times my heart is overwhelmed in the best kind of ways. I am so incredibly grateful for everyone’s support and encouragement. At times, I still think I am kind of crazy doing this. But here we go! Let’s get down to the details.

So, I have to raise $16,962 dollars to go on the World Race and I leave in January. I’m headed to 11 countries in 11 months, but where does that money go? What is it used for? Do I need to raise all of that money before I leave? These estimates are a few years old, but allocations are similar. The following charts and information are borrowed with permission from another racer from a few years back.

Training Camp–$320 – (Covers my training before departure. This is a week-long session in October)

Field Support–$620 – (Assisting to get us supplies, local contacts, etc.)

WR Development Program–$1,860 (Improvements & Developments)

Administration Fees–$2,635 – (Processing fees and paying the staff who organizes travel, meals, missions, etc.)

World Racer–$11,075 (this is used for me!)

So 65% of what I raise is used for me! To be clear though, it does not go into my pocket, but it is used by Adventures in Missions for me. Let’s break down where that World Racer money goes.

Travel between continents – $5,235.00

Food – $1,256.25

Lodging – $1,758.75

Transportation – $1,005.00

Long Distance Travel/Misc. Supplies – $1,115.55

All of this money does not include the remaining gear and equipment I will have to get! I have become a frequent flyer at REI!! 😉

Again, here are the countries I will be going to: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Costa Rica, Panama, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. (they are subject to change)

Deadlines

4/15/2015 – $150 Deposit (2 weeks after your acceptance date.)

9/25/2015 – $9,800 (2 weeks before Training Camp)

12/18/2015 – $10,000 (2 weeks prior to my trip)

2/29/2016 – $13,000 (End of 2 months on the field)

4/30/2016 – $16,962 = $16,962.00 TOTAL DUE (End of 4 months on the field)

These are my actual deadlines. Personally, I am working and striving to get fully funded by the end of this year. It would alleviate the stress of having to raise funds while overseas. If you have any questions about this, just email or text me.
