It’s been tested time and time again, those that truly decide to seek God and live accordance with His will and plan for their lives will be tested and temptations will be presented to test that faith. The last thing that Satan and his demons want to see is for God’s people to have their faith on fire and spreading the good news of the Gospel.
I know that this has been especially true in my life recently. It goes without saying that I am far from being the poster child of self-discipline and control. If I was I would be about a 100 pounds lighter and not had been addicted to pornography and living a life of sin with homosexuality these last 20 years.
But we serve a loving and gracious God that thanks to the gift of His son Jesus we are given forgiveness of sin and the grace of a new start when we call on Him and confess our sins.
I have been one of the lucky ones growing up. I was raised in a very loving and supportive family that provided every need I could have ever had and tried hard to teach me in understand wants and needs. Even into my adulthood they were always there for me when I stumbled and failed. It wasn’t until recently that I learned the true lesson of what it means to truly rely on God for the needs in my life. God has been teaching me that He will provide a way when there seems to be no way.
Since I signed on to be a missionary for Adventures in Missions the number one concern that I have heard over and over is “How are you going to raise so much money?” and to be honest the concept of trying to raise nearly $20,000 is scary, but I know that God is our great provider and if I am meant to go on this trip He will provide the way.
I have been blessed by those that have already given towards the cause and those that are praying about how much they can do. Some have apologized when they could only give a small amount, but rest assured that every amount great or small is humbling and a blessing. I understand and been there more times than I can count myself, but know our God is a great God and sees your heart behind your gift.
Remember in Matthew Chapter 7:13-14 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.“
I pray that you will be brave enough to go down the narrow road that few have traveled. It reminds me of the ending of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken”
