WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

ARE YOU CRAZY?

WHY?

The most common questions I get asked when talking about the countries I’ll be going to on World Race.

Approximately half of my route is within the 10/40 Window. Before the World Race I had never heard of the 10/40 Window, so — in short, the 10/40 Window has the highest level of socioeconomic challenges with least access to Christian resources. It is predominantly Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, animist, Jewish, or atheist. Many governments in the 10/40 Window are opposed to Christian work of any kind within their borders.

So…

1. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!

  • I’m thinking that there are approximately 17,000 people groups in these areas who have never heard the name of Jesus, who don’t have a single verse translated in their native tongue, who couldn’t learn about Jesus or the Gospel even if they wanted to. Meanwhile there are approximately 900 English translations of the Bible.
  • I’m thinking there are individuals and families who fear for their lives every day because they worship God and need to be encouraged to keep fighting the good fight. Who need to hear that their efforts aren’t wasted, and that they are not alone.
  • I’m thinking that there are women who have been sold into sex trafficking and being used for their bodies, who need to be told of the redemption that was brought when Jesus died for them. That what is being done to them does not make them shameful and they are precious in God’s sight.

2. ARE YOU CRAZY?!

  • Am I? Am I crazy that I long to see a world redeemed by the blood of Jesus? Covered by His loved? Restored by His grace? Cleansed by His sacrifice? Am I crazy for being tired of just going to church on Sunday and being a “christian” instead of fighting for the people who don’t have this freedom?! Am I crazy that I want to uplift the suppressed in Jesus’ name and fill the emptiness of the world with His love, joy, and fulfillment? Am I crazy that I want to love on the broken and pray over the sick and tell the lost that there is a purpose for their lives? Maybe I’m crazy. Maybe none of this makes sense. But maybe, just maybe, this is exactly what someone else needs to read. Maybe someone is on the fence about going on the World Race, or giving his or her life to Christ. Maybe God is working right now. Maybe only one person over the next 11 months receives the love of Jesus, and maybe that will make the whole trip worth it. Am I crazy? Probably. But MAN it feels good.
