MANANTIALES
Every weekend here in Colombia, a group of us would be sent up to Manantiales to go door to door with our ministry partners to give gift bags to kids. We also got the opportunity to go into peoples home to pray for them and minister. Neighborhoods in Medellin are ranked on a scale from zero to six, with zero being the poorest of the poor, and six being extremely wealthy. Back at our ministry site is ranked a two, and Manantiales a zero to paint a picture. It is one of the poorest parts of Medellin, Colombia.
PASSIONATE CALLING
Jan 14th
During ministry up at Manantiales, I was on a walk with a man of God this past week. Our translator Gustavo asked me a couple of questions about my life. While on our walk, he began to ask me about my family and my upbringing. I told him that I didn’t have a father figure in my life and that growing up had been hard. He quickly responded with, “Despite what has or hasn’t happened in your life, the Lord still uses it for good. When he said this, I recognized that it was the Lord that put a sincere desire within my heart to love and to minister to orphans and kids! I want to let kids know that their earthly parents may not have planned them but their father in heaven is watching over them and purposely created them. God intentionally placed everyone on this earth, and no one is an accident. The orphans all around the world shall know that the Lord sees them and loves them unconditionally! That they have a purpose greater than things of this world!

My squad and I got the chance to love on kids at VBS! What an honor to be able to partner with Fundación Ciudad Refugio. I LOVE THESE KIDS! This weekend we got the chance to perform skits, puppet shows, play games, sing songs, and teach these beautiful children! I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach and pour out the Lord’s love into these children. I know what it is like to be a kid wrestling with what love is. Recognizing the love, I desired growing up from my dad, allows me to glorify the Lord by loving these kids as he does! I know for sure that I will be working with kids wherever I am in this world. It’s pretty cool when the Lord aligns our desires with his. And when he does, it’s PERFECT! Pictured below is my squad-mate Nikki Marietta who passionately lead VBS in songs!
This adorable kid is Santiago! I connected with him the moment we made eye contact. He began to follow me, and even though there was a language barrier, we still were able to communicate through laughter, smiles, and non-verbal conversations. I started to mimic Santiago’s every move. When he noticed he jumped up and down with so much excitement! Smiling and making new silly moves and faces to see if I would continue. Admittedly I did for 30 min haha! He was so happy, and he knew that I was copying his every move. We had a blast, and I know without a shout of a doubt I have a ministry with children. God is confirming ministries he has for me long before he formed me in my mother’s womb as it is written in Jeremiah 1:5.
THE SEED
Jan 19th
The Lord has put a seed in each one of us. And in due time, he begins watering the seed which eventually grows into the voice used to speak life into the people in our future. He has given all of us a unique purpose here on this earth. Your trial and tribulations grow into your testimony. And from your testimony, your voice has been established leading into the passionate call to ministry that he has placed into your heart. God gets all the glory because, through all the chaos and calamity, he is working things out even when you can’t see it as it is written in Romans 8:28. I have had bad memories and unforgiveness toward some people that I had years ago come back up in week one. The reason the Lord has things happen to us in our past is that he intently is building our faith and character in him as it is written in Romans 5:3-4. That is why it is essential to write and keep a record of what is happening in your life. We are forgetful creatures. We have to make an effort to remember continually. A lesson the Lord was teaching you in a season longtime ago will be deliverance and breakthrough for someone else in a season to come.
