“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”       Micah 6:8
My name is Mike Schuerman I was born in DavenPort, Iowa but have spent 22 out of my 27 years here in Orlando, Florida. I just want to state for the record I LOVE Florida, the beaches, the weather, the culture it’s all amazing. My Parents divorced when I was 15 years old so my Mom (Cindy) and my little brother (Matt) who is 25 years old live right here in Orlando with me.  My Dad and my step mom Roxy live in New Port Richey, FL which is about one and a half hours from Orlando and I get to see them from time to time. For only being 27 I have done a lot of things with my life up to this point ,the biggest fact that shocks people is that I used to be a Police Officer when I was 22 years old ha, crazy I know. I went to the University of Central Florida (UCF) where I received my degree in Sports and Fitness. I  am currently a personal training manager for Lifestyle Family Fitness where I have been at for 5 years now. I love my job and how I get to help people on a daily basis. The relationships I have formed with my clients and co-workers over the years have been amazing and I thank God for directing me into this field and this company where I get to have fun every day and help change lives.
I grew up as a Catholic, I attended private Catholic schools from 1st-9th grade and attended St. Margaret Mary Church with my family and friends. When my parents got divorced I was 15 years old and I was blessed with the opportunity to be able to transfer to a non-denominational Christian High School. It was there during the weekly chapels and bible classes that I started learning the major differences between Catholicism and Christianity.  The major difference I noticed was Catholicism is based on Religion where as Christianity is based off FAITH. I noticed a major difference in the lives of the students who attended this new school and whatever it was they had, I wanted it.  A few short weeks after I started there my Grandpa had died and this was the first time in my life I had to deal with the concept and feelings of death. That same week in Chapel I heard a speaker named Billy, he had brain cancer and was only given a few months to live and he told us he was traveling around the U.S. speaking and telling others of how God loves us and wants us to have a relationship with Him.  This concept was new to me because previously in my time at Catholic school I learned that only the Priest could have a relationship with God, which is why we went to confession etc.  What Billy was explaining he referenced in the bible, and he asked us if we knew where we would go if we were to die that day? I didn’t know, and that was scary for me but Billy did know and he shared with us God’s plan to bring us into relationship with Him.  That day I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior and to forgive me for my sins. That day and the events and friendships that formed after that changed my life forever.  I still make mistakes, and no I’m no where near perfect but the great news is Jesus is and I am so thankful for my relationship with Him. He looks past my mistakes and flaws and loves me unconditionally.
Basically when it comes down to it, I’m a genuine guy with a BIG heart who loves to have fun and meet new and interesting people. I enjoy a lot of unique friendships that I have in my life currently and I’m blessed to know each of them on a deeper level. I love God and I try and live a life that reflects that even though a fail, sometimes on a daily basis. I love to laugh, and I love to make other people laugh as much as I can I think it’s a gift and good for the soul. In my free time I like to have fun by being active so I’m into things like Surfing, Wake Boarding, Biking, Scuba Diving, going to the beach, camping etc. If it’s outdoors then I’m usually there. If you have any other questions please contact me I would love to hear from you. Thanks for taking time out of your day to read my BIO.
