One of the first nights of World Race Ignition Training Camp, during worship I prayed for a prophesy over me. I very simply told God I had never had that before, and wanted it. I left it at that and continued to worship. I kind of forgot about what I had asked God, until at the very end of the night, when a girl who I hadn’t really met yet came up to me and told me she had a word for me. I remembered what I had asked God!
Here is what was said:
“You’re a David. You’re a warrior. You’re going to be on the front lines. So arise o man of God, arise!”
Then she prayed for me, that my spiritual eyes and ears would be opened, and that the gift of prophesy would rise up in me. Right after I was so pumped at what God had for me, and that He answered my prayer so quickly, that I wanted to quick write it all down in my journal. As I was writing, I glanced behind me and saw one of the racers. God spoke, “He needs to forgive himself”. I was like, thats sweet God! Now let me finish writing down what just happened! But then I stopped, and realized how clearly God spoke to me! So right after I was prayed for, to have my spiritual eyes and ears open, God gives me a word of knowledge! I spoke with him, and asked if there was anything he needed to forgive himself for. He didn’t give details but said there was, but he was having a hard time getting past it. He said there was like a wall that he couldn’t get past. I told him that we need to experience God’s complete and full, 100% forgiveness in order to move forward. That means seeking God’s forgiveness, others’ forgiveness, and forgiving yourself. I told him about a time I was struggling and grieving a situation I walked into, and how a friend told me I needed to forgive myself. After a few days, I realized I couldn’t! So then I prayed that God would enable me to forgive myself, and that is when I was able to forgive myself, and was able to move forward.
If we don’t have faith that not only are we forgiven, but also that we can forgive ourselves, then we unwork the work of the Cross. We need to be faithful that we can forgive ourselves, because when Jesus died, He died for our complete forgiveness, so that we may be white as snow, a lamb without blemish. Don’t carry around your past sins and failures any longer! God did not intend for you to carry them around, in fact, He gave His life to carry your sin for you. So leave it at the foot of the cross, and move forward in your walk with God. You will find that it truly is “for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1).
