It is Day 4 for me here at Zion's Gate Ministries, Honduras.
There is no orientation for a trip like this. I've jumped into a fast flowing river. There is no way of testing the waters. You step onto the property, and off you go. Already, I have climbed to the heights and experienced mountain-top victories with this family. I have also lowered myself into the trenches, into the heart of their conflicts.
Day 1 found me in Los Pinos, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Honduras. I walked up a familiar dirt staircase that snakes it's way through the slums. On top of the hill I was reunited with Nicole and Sandra. When I was here with B Squad, their stories wrecked my heart, but their smiles communicated the HOPE. I walked further up the hill and met with Ariel, Dania, and their mother. From those heights we could see all of Tegucigulpa. We prayed together, and I asked for God's LOVE and PEACE to wash over their hearts and fill their home.
Down below I met some more kids. I taught them a few silly games, and made goofy faces and random noices to entertain them. I met a young boy named Antonio, and I dubbed him "Antonio Banderas, the Zorro of Los Pinos". The kids found it extremely funny, jajaja.
I also met Amalia, Ariel's sister. Her arm was wrapped and I asked what happened. She was injured in school and was in a lot of pain. I prayed for her arm, "Jesus, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in Amalia's arm as it is in heaven. No mas dolor en el nombre de Jesus!" My spanish may not be perfect, but God's love is, and Amalia was completely healed!
I told you in a recent blog that I want to meet with the Father in the mornings to see if He has any specific instructions for the day. Today while worshiping on top of the water tower, I asked Father God to show me something. He showed me a picture of Henry's face and told me to pray with him. Henry has only recently returned from the streets to once again work with Tony.
After praying with Henry on top of the water tower, I talked with him a lot about David. David was a worshiper and a warrior, and I told Henry to be strong and courageous in this same way.
Afterwards, Henry had a sheepish grin on his face. Henry told me, "A year ago Tony gave me a t-shirt of David and Goliath, and Tony told me to be strong and courageous".
