I just got back from a small fellowship with a few of my teammates, the Bishop (our ministry contact), and some amazing Kenyans.  We sat underneath the shade of a mango tree and worshipped God.  We sang praises, shared testimonies and heard from the Word of God.

One woman, Ann, is dying from AIDS.  I watched as she worshipped God.  Her face shines God’s joy, peace, and love.  As we sang to God, it was clear that she was completely content.

I thank God for the experiences I am having here.  They continue to shape my walk with Christ.  I am grateful for the promotion God has brought my way, in having me lead this team.  It is overwhelming at times, being responsible for the health and well-being (both physical and spiritual) of 12 young men and women, but through the process I continually learn greater dependence on God.

One of the girls on my team, Andrea, recently spent a few days sick in bed.  It was intense at times, as she was very ill.  One night she was just crying out to God, for a sign that He was watching over her.  Around this time God placed her on my heart and I was greatly burdened for her.  Father God began to speak to me, and I wrote everything He said.  He spoke of His love for her, that He was watching over her, and that healing was on it’s way.  She went outside, and saw a shooting star.  Right after, I delivered the note, not knowing that she had been asking God for a sign.

The next day, she shared the story and how greatly she was encouraged by the letter.  She said that faith rose up and she immiediately went and ate some food (she had not been able to eat for a couple days).  These are the kinds of things that make everything worth it.  It’s not always easy being out here, but when people on my team experience God in powerful ways, it’s all the encouragement I need.  Glory to God!
