This month, we are staying in Chinendaga, Nicaragua. Our host ministry is Vision Nicaragua. Their mission statement is “In obedience to the greatest commandment, Vision Nicaragua exists to enhance love, life, relationships, growth, and potential in local communities.” Each morning, I wake up, have quiet time, and watch smoke pour out of the volcano that sits behind our ministry compound. This month is focused on giving messages and testimonies to all people. We have had the opportunity to speak in church, talk to men with addictions, and run children’s ministry.

During one of our stops with door to door ministry, we encountered a family that stood out to me. Besides our team, only males were in the house. The oldest man spoke a little English. When we walked in, there was a young man lying on the floor in his underwear. He had small legs and his arms were twisted and deformed. We circled around him to make room for everyone. The young man would roll around and look at all of us with a huge smile on his face. One of the men said that he was very smart and he usually knew what was going on. Later, we found out that the man had something wrong with him at one years old. The doctor gave him a shot to cure it, but it was ineffective and caused deformity and certain brain issues. The head of the house allowed us to lay hands on the young man so that we could pray for him.

This ministry has been a great avenue for our squad to step out in faith. We have had opportunities to speak the love of Jesus and show His love through our actions.
