got in on Wednesday last week at like 1130p and waited for our bags and
buses to arrive. Once we got on the bus we stopped at a gas station for
food and such because we hadn’t eaten since midday. The problem with
stopping at that gas station was they were closed….for 30 mins. I
guess the people running the gas station needed a quick break, can’t
say I blame them, I wouldn’t want to be working at midnight either only
to know that there are 45 people waiting outside for you to open up
again so they can flood your place. Poor guys haha. After our
experience at the gas station, we took off on a five hour bus ride to
our housing (don’t feel too bad for us about the bus ride…the other
teams had a 12 hour ride). At roughly 5am, we got to our place and were
blown away. Its a huge house with plenty of space for the 14 of us, 2
baths and a full kitchen. We quickly passed out and I got up at around
11 with Tamica to meet our first contact while the rest slept til 2 or
so. Later in the day we met our 2nd contact (the one we’ve been doing
the most with so far), great guy, very spirit led and has BIG dreams
and visions for Romania.
meet up with a family that the previous racers had prayed over. The
wife was pregnant at the time the other racers came by, and the baby’s
head wasn’t turning correctly to have a natural birth. The racers
prayed over her, and when we got there, she had the baby….and had it
naturally because the baby’s head has turned! God is soo good! We then
got to meet the husband and our contact asked us to pray for the man
because he has been dealing with alcohol dependency for some time now
and wanted relief from it. So the men of our group Paul, Joe, Matt, and
myself gathered around him and spoke life into him. We told him how
much Jesus loved him and that the only thing he needed to rely on was
Jesus. We took authority over the dependency and cast it out. All the
while our contact was translating for us and the man was noticably
effected by our prayers. He shook our hands after we were finished
praying and we went on our way.
struggling with depression, so the girls gathered around her, laying
hands on her, and prayed beautiful prayers that spoke life and truth
into this woman. She seemed so grateful, it was awesome to witness the
power these women of God have!
village. We got there and were immediately met by roughly 20 kids with
smiles so big it took up their entire faces. We fell in love almost
instantly. The first thing we did was worship with the kids, and even
though they didn’t know the words we were saying, they were just loving
the fact we were there for them. These are kids who are shunned in the
community because they don’t have the money to go to school, or have
places to shower. They get made fun of by everyone, and when we came in
to play with them and sing with them they latched on to us, it was
beautiful. After singing with them we performed a drama that we made up
that day (I got to play Jesus…it was sweet…video will be made
available soon). The kids loved it. Once that was over we just got to
play with them….it was the most fun I’ve had so far on the trip. The
joy on these kids faces was something I don’t think I’ve seen
before…all they had was one deflated soccer ball, and they were so
happy with it. They challenged me and the guys to try to get the ball
from them, while dancing around to fake us out. Pure Joy. Unreasonable
joy. The joy of Jesus. It was incredible. Oh yeah! Right after the
drama, our contact blindsided us with these words “I would like it if
one of you would preach now.” So everyone kinda freaked out internally
and then I felt 13 sets of eyes on me…I guess I’ll be preaching! It
was awesome. I said a quick prayer that sounded something like “Jesus,
I have nothing, I need your help here” and then out came a 10 min
message. I have no idea what I even said, but I hear there is a video
floating around somewhere…if I can locate it I’ll post it for sure.
