Before becoming a Christian, they didn't tell me about spiritual warfare. They didn't tell me that when you become a Christian, you enter a battlefield.
When you enter this battlefield, you are immediately equipped with wooden practice sword and what seems like a cutting board for a shield. You're a recruit. You're inexperienced. You're vulnerable.
They didn't warn me about this…
But they told me that God would stand by my side. Like a heroic Captain, leading the charge for His beloved men, He fights for me. He died for me.
They didn't warn me about temptation, and how it can overtake you. They didn't warn me that the enemy is conniving and clever. They didn't warn me that the enemy can convince me to do things that I truly don't want to do.
They didn't warn me about this…
But they told me about the power of prayer. And how prayer is used to communicate with God. Prayer gives you the ability to ask for protection against the enemy, so that your mind and heart stay pure.
They didn't warn me that I won't receive all things I desire. They didn't warn me that things won't work out the way I selfishly want them to. They didn't warn me that it's not my plan in action, but God's.
They didn't warn me about this…
But they told me about the importance of God's will. They told me that God's plan is what's best for me. They told me that God's will is the ultimate plan, where we spend eternity with Him.
They didn't need to warn me. God showed me, and said "I want to save you from this, so take My hand."
