"Death is the ultimate freedom."
Jodi Arias

This is a quote coming from a woman who was just found guilty of first degree murder in a very high profile trial. I've been sporadically watching updates on this trial, forming no opinion about the defendent being guilty or not guilty. I began to take interest when the idea of the death penalty was being thrown around, as if it's something to take lightly. Personally, I do not agree with the death penalty. I feel we shouldn't have the power to choose when someone dies.

It breaks my heart to hear these people debate about the case, speaking of court tactics such as using grieving family members of the victim as leverage against the jury. Even worse is the fact that the family and friends of the victim erupted with tears of joy and relief when Jodi Arias was found guilty. They essentially celebrated the imminent near death of a human being, as if that some how makes the murder of someone you know more bearable.

Well, I agree with Jodi's quote – to an extent. Death is the ultimate freedom… through Jesus Christ.

Jesus said to him,
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6

I pray for the family grieving for their lost loved one, that they find comfort in God instead of comfort in the death of another human. I also pray for Jodi, and her spirit, that in her time on this earth she will come to know Jesus. Only though Jesus, can death be the pathway to eternal life – the ultimate freedom.
