I can’t believe I’ve been in India almost 2 weeks!  But what an adventurous 2 weeks it has been.  We are here working with an organization called BURN 24-7.  Their mission is to travel around India, helping churches, and performing worship sessions.
We arrived in Mumbai where we stayed (at the YMCA!) for the first few days. Mumbai is a large city with amazing street food and even more amazing people.   During our stay there we had hot showers, nice air conditioned rooms, and a mall (nicer than the mall by my house) nearby.   To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.  We partnered with a local church where we prepared, promoted, and then put on a burn.  It was an awesome time of prayer and worship and I was surprised at how many people actually showed up.  It was truly a blessing.  A couple of days later we got to visit a Christian shelter about 45 minutes away from the city that housed homeless men, women, and children. It was great to see how much good they have done for the people in their city.  They take people of the street (some in need of serious medical attention), nurse them back to health, and give them a place to stay and food to eat.  It was such a rewarding experience just being there and being able to spend time with them.
After our stay in Mumbai we boarded a train for a 26 hour ride to Calcutta.  The train ride seemed to fly by for me but that was probably because I spent a good 20 hours sleeping.  It was nice to catch up on some much needed rest.  I was shocked, once we arrived at the train station in Calcutta, at just how huge it is.  Apparently it’s the largest in India.  Anyway, while here we have helped put on a conference for church leaders and yesterday we got to do some praise and worship at a local college.  I even had the opportunity to take a boat across the infamous Ganges River (twice!).  This is only our second stop here in India with four more to go.  So far I have really enjoyed my time here and I can’t wait to see what’s next.  But as always I will be sure to keep you all updated.  I’ll write again soon.  Goodbye and God bless!!!
