Here’s a sneak peek into my life in Honduras this month.  I’ve been here for a week already and it’s pretty crazy how every single thing about life right now, while strange and new and sometimes challenging, feels exactly like where I’m supposed to be.  I wouldn’t want to live any other way.  In no particular order, here are some random facts about my time here so far.

I'm staying with my whole squad of 50+ people at the Zion’s Gate ministry near Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

My team’s project on the property three days a week consists of literally ripping rocks and boulders out of the ground with pry bars and pick axes.

All 50+ of us share one single, co-ed bathroom.  It's kinda weird how quickly this has become normal.

Traffic laws here are more like…guidelines.  It's also weird how quickly flying down the wrong side of a mountain road in a school bus has become normal.

I’m quickly realizing that relationships and the reshaping of personal identity on my team and squad are more important than any actual ministry we do.  Without a true sense of identity, ministry is forced and hypocritical.  True ministry is automatic the more I understand and walk in who God created me to be.  And how can I say I understand God’s love if I’m not willing to love on my teammates when I feel like they don’t deserve it at all?

Thursday a dog bit me while I was going for my morning run.  My bro Carter punted it and after we finished our run I got to visit the local hospital to get it checked out.  I got three stitches and the doctor called me a white Barak Obama and the whole thing only cost me seven dollars so it was a pretty successful trip.

Friday we did an outreach we call Take It to the Streets…basically we got some “Jesus Loves You” signs and went crazy on a street corner in Teguce during rush hour.  We got a ton of horn honks and thumbs up and had the opportunity to pray over some people in the process.

I sleep in a hammock on the side of a mountain overlooking the city.  My tent is basically my closet.  It’s exactly as amazing as it sounds.

Typically we’ll only have internet when we go into the city every Friday, but some of us made a special trip down today to get some American food and some Wi-Fi.  Burger King never tasted so good. 🙂
