The July World Race has begun! The entire P-Squad, ridiculously oversized bags and all, have officially arrived in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Yay!
I’m not going to lie, it still all seems very surreal. It’s hard to believe this is just Day 1 of the next 11 months, that I am officially homeless, and that I will be spending the year living out of a backpack which weighed in just under 48 pounds! Craziness!
The Dominican is definitely a fun place to start. Despite the heat (which, really isn’t that different than most summer days in Arkansas) we are living pretty luxurious this week… and by luxurious I mean rooms jam packed with bunk beds, running water for showers & an occasional fan spinning! What can I say… we are living the life! 🙂
This whole process has been a bit overwhelming for me at times, but I am extremely relieved to be back in the presence of my amazing teammates. There is a great comfort in being surrounded by amazing men and women of God that are also experiencing this ridiculous lifestyle and all that comes with it. It’s going to be a wild ride, there is no doubt about that.
So, yeah.. all that to say that we made it here safely & with all our luggage in tow! Travel day pictures to come soon. Let the journey begin!!!
