Team Genesis

Get yourself geared up because it’s time to introduce you to….

 

 

This lovely group of five will be my family for the next eleven months.  We will live together, eat together, pray together, work together, and play together… needless to say, by the end of the trip we wont quite know how to operate without one another. 

 So, let me explain the team name…In the book of Genesis, God speaks life into man for the very first time and one of our major goals this year is to always speak life into the new people we meet, into the people we already know, and into each other.  So, without any further ado…meet my WR family!

 

James currently lives in Lubbock, Texas and graduated with a degree in Mathmatics from Texas Tech.  The best way to describe James is the “thinking man.”  He’s full of wisdom, but also has a hint of wittiness just waiting to come out.  He’s a little soft spoken, but also has the has the gift of being able to think before he speaks.  He’s a true man of God, and is very passionate about digging deep into the Word. One thing is for sure, with James you better be ready because when he has something to say, you definitely want to be listening.

 

Jon currently lives in Oakboro, North Carolina.  He has spent time training in Mixed Martial Arts and is well versed in his survival skills.  Don’t let the tough exterior fool you though, this guy is full of laughs and has a true heart for worshipping the Lord, especially through music.  Plus, he told me he would bring me an 11 months supply of Red Hots for the Race, so that pretty much sealed the deal on our friendship. 

 

Emily is a huge Gators fan (though I am not going to hold that against her) and currently resides in Florida.  She has a degree in Occupational Therapy and can tell you just about anything you want to know about the movements of the human body.  This girl is not only smart, she is truly passionate about everything she does.  She works hard, plays hard, and loves even harder.  We tend to call her “the mom” because she is always taking care of everyone around her.  She has a smile and an energy that is absolutely contagious, and I can’t wait to spend the year with the amazing woman of God.

 

Alicia is a born and raised Michigan girl, and currently resides right outside of Detriot.  She spent a year living in Arkansas (Wooo Pig Sooie), but returned to Michigan to finish her degree in Social Work.  This city girl has a smile that lights up a room, and jokes that will keep you laughing for days on end.  Also, don’t forget to ask this girl to belt out a tune… she has both a beautiful voice and and amazing heart dedicated to worshipping the Lord.  God has such a special purpose for her along this adventure, and I am so excited that I will be able to witness it first hand! There is no doubt that Alicia will be my partner in crime on this 11 month journey, watch out world… here we come!

 

Kara also comes from the great state of Michigan where they tend to call soda “pop.”  She graduated with a degree in Health Promotion & Recreational Programming and pretty much knows anything and everything about the world of exercise.  Needless to say, we will come back from this trip in better shape than we left, thanks to her! Kara provides an energy and balance to the group that makes us who we are… that, and the girl just simply knows how to have FUN!   Kara has such a heart for the Lord and the willingness to really go above and beyond to meet people’s needs.  She is definitely the completing piece to our team puzzle.

 

So, there you go… you have officially met my WR family!  Check out their blogs, show them some love,  and make sure to put them on your prayer list for this next year (especially since they have to put up with me!!)
