As most of you know, my month in Haiti has been spent at a beautiful orphanage called HIS Home for Children.  After spending a month with these amazing children, a huge part of me wants to call everyone I know and just beg them to adopt one of these beautiful, talented, intelligent children!  However, I know that might be asking a little much of all of you…
So, instead I guess I will let you off the hook, and give you the opportunity to help out in another way… by supplying the orphanage with some much needed items. Here are a list of items of great need:

1) Personal hygiene items

2) Girls bras: sizes 32-36 (ALL cup sizes)

3) Training bras

4) Girls underwear: sizes 8 years old and up

5) Hair supplies: rubber bands (black are best) and hair barrettes

6) Deodorant

7) Socks (for kids SCHOOL age)

8) Tennis shoes for girls AND boys all sizes for school age kids (New or Used)

9) School supplies

          -Pencils and sharpeners

          -Erasers

-Kids activity books (dot to dot, tracing for ABC’s, etc.)

10) Twin size sheets and pillow cases

11) Bath towels

12) Anything for boys and girls that could be used as Christmas presents

Also, there are a couple of ways to support these kids directly through monetary gifts:

  1. School– It costs 3,000/year to put one child in a private school here in Haiti. Supporting a child to go to a private school is especially meaningful to the kids at this orphanage! When they get adopted and move to the states they tend to be behind in school and this private school offers a much better education they any other school in Haiti.
  2. Sponsorship– You can sponsor a child for $50 a month. You can do this by going to the website (www.hishomeforchildren.com) and click on the  ‘Sponsorship’ tab.
So, all of that to say that if you are aching to find a way to do your part without having to pack all of your belongings in one bag and traveling around the world for a year… here is a perfect opportunity!!

Please e-mail me if you have any questions.  Also, please know that I would not ask you to support these ministries if I did not believe in them.  I have seen first hand the wonderful blessings of this ministry for both the kids and the people of Haiti.

So, here’s some info you might need:

This is the address to send items to:

H.I.S. Home For Children

100 Airport Ave., PAP 16044

Venice, FL 34285

You will be sending your packages to Venice, FL where they will then be shipped internationally from there. When Chris and Hal pick up your package in Haiti they must pay $2 per pound in order to receive it. If possible, it is helpful to cover this cost by sending a check to their office in the States for the amount your package will cost to pick up.

Address for check to cover pick up charges:

Hal and Chris Nungester

3172 W. Breese Rd.
