Family:
I am the youngest of four siblings. One brother and two sisters, all of which are married. I like to think that my parents did a decent job at raising us four kids and I am continually thankful for their support and wisdom. Along with my immediate family I also enjoy spending time with the rest of my extended family. The way I figure is many things will come and go as we live life but Family is designed to be one of the few constants and I am thankful to say that it definitely has been in my life.
Places:
I was born in Colorado but I have lived in southwest Missouri since I was two years old. Through work opportunities and while visiting family I have been able travel to various locations. The list includes Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, California, Kansas, Arkansas and Tennessee to name a few. These have been some incredible places to visit and I am thankful for the memories I have taken from each one.
Opportunities:
After studying Construction Management at John Brown University for two years I moved to central Kansas to work for a company that specialized in heavy industrial concrete. After choosing to step away form the construction industry I applied for a position with the Montana Conservation Corps. Shortly after my season with MCC was completed I found out about World Race and began looking for employment. As always, God was faithful and provided a great job working for lawn and tree company here in Missouri. Truth be told I never thought I would be climbing trees for a living but then again there are worse things to do for a paycheck. Goodness knows I can’t complain!
Interests:
Outdoor sports and activities. Things like hiking, backpacking, hunting, boating etc. It would not be a stretch to label me a gear junkie either when it comes to obtaining the proper equipment to enjoy the aforementioned activities. Along with my love for the outdoors I also enjoy cooking and building. Both of these require creativity, attention to detail and an opportunity to work with my hands. Lately I’ve also come to realize that I really enjoy movies as well. Not exactly the most productive interest out there, but an interest nonetheless.
Currently:
As mentioned above I am working as a pruner for a lawn and tree company here in southwest Missouri. Between family work and church I manage to fill my time pretty well. In these months leading up to my departure I am attempting to purposefully take advantage of every opportunity to spend time with friends and loved ones while preparing for this upcoming journey in numerous ways.
