Surprise! My team and I had a last minute change, and we were rerouted from Mkushi to Serenje in the warm and beautiful county of Zambia.
My new team, International Harvesters, has been split in two for lodging purposes, and I have been living with Jenny at the house of Pastor Frank Sinkala and his beautiful wife Paxina. They have four children named Priscillah, Omega, Delight, and Chimwemwe (which means joy), and they treat us like part of the family. We even have Zambian Names: Jenny is now Bupe (Woo-pay) and I am Mwila (Mwe-la).
This month, the International Harvesters are serving with four different pastors to meet the needs of their churches and ministries, so as you can imagine, we are occupied with a wide range of activities. All of the pastors partnered in a ministry called Strategic Impact, which seeks to spread the gospel through relational evangelism.
As such, we have done a great deal of door-to-door and street evangelism and personal encouragement. On those days, we walk around Serenje, sharing scripture, praying for people, and spreading the gospel. Additionally, we’ve done some Children’s Ministry events centered around various Bible stories – singing songs, playing games, and sharing the word with our neighborhood kiddos has been a serious blast! On Sundays you will find us preaching, leading worship, or teaching Bible stories.
We will have a chance to do it all this month, and I think it will lead to a lot of spiritual and personal growth. I can’t wait to see what else happens here in Serenje. I’ll post another update when I can!
Until the Whole World Hears,
Mia
