Romania has reminded me of how much I like to work with my hands. This August, Team Wailua has been serving with Apa Vie Ministries in Pestere, Romania, a small village in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.
Apa Vie is a ministry that helps make Christian conferences and camps possible in the smaller communities of Romania. Roy and Melania (pictured below) are the sweet couple that operate the ministry, and they have been faithful to give us many tasks to complete here on the property.
Erin and I had the opportunity to bring the American Midwest to a Romanian Village by building some Cornhole sets. Children and adults that come to Apa Vie will be able to learn and play this beloved American lawn game!
All of us ladies took turns painting and restoring the floors, walls, and beams of the garage, and now it looks as good as new! Now, Roy’s big yellow bus has a fresh place to park!
Caley and I spent a few days sanding, taping, and painting the posts for the volleyball net, and our other team members worked together on the attached flagpoles. Say hello to a fun pop of color in the backyard (all we need to do is hang the net)!
Greg and Lucas were able to make a lot of progress on one of three guest houses here at Apa Vie Ministries. The gals of Wailua helped here and there, but these guys really put in work; they even put up a roof! So impressive!
Each one of us taken a turn at “cooking ministry,” which basically means preparing a meal for the team while everyone else continues working. It’s actually been quite fun; there’s nothing like quality time in the kitchen!
We’ve been able to do so many other things, too. Mowing the lawn. Building decks. Clearing out pavilions. Cleaning bathrooms. Giving testimony at church. Leading worship. Partnering with an American team to put on a camp. You name it, we may have done it.
Romania has been so good to us, and I am thankful that the Lord knew right where to send Team Wailua this August.
Until the Whole World Hears,
Mia
