“How does it feel to be an answer to prayer?” she asked me.

This comment really took me aback. Me? An answer to prayer? I guess I just hadn’t anticipated that the Lord would use me like that.

But He did.

Meet Donna. She is the Educational Consultant at Cuatro Christian School in Cainta, Rizal. Originally a teacher in Colorado for eight years, she has now dedicated her time and talent to serving in this small part of Manila.

The two of us met when I arrived in the Philippines, and at out first meeting she casually shared a dream of hers with me, “What I’d really love is to create a program to coach my teachers and help them become better. I just don’t really know where to start.” She had been praying for months, asking the Lord to give her wisdom about how to make this happen at her school.

My jaw hit the floor.

Coaching teachers is something that I know how to do; it is an area in which most missionaries would lack experience, and an area I had developed during my educational career. Not to mention, had I stayed in America, it would have been a major part my new full time role.

I shared my educational work experience with her.

“God sent you here for me and my teachers,” she said with light in her eyes, and I felt some tears forming in mine, though I tried to hide it. I couldn’t believe that God orchestrated this moment between two women who lived more than 8,000 miles apart. Right away, the two of us dove into crafting professional development that blended best educational practices with elements of Filipino culture.

The majesty of my God leaves me speechless, so I will leave you with Donna’s wise words instead:

“What a wonderful thing it is to know that God cares about training these teachers and wants to help these students. Right here, in this small corner of Manila. The fact that he sees us here speaks to His greatness. He sees the value of just one life, of these lives, lives that most people don’t even know about. He sees us here. I have an awesome God, how about you?”

Until the Whole World Hears,

Mia
