I first witnessed a school under a tree when I was in a small rural village in the beautiful country of Swaziland (three years ago this month) The school was in the middle of being built so rather wait they decided that they would start the relationship as quickly they could. They had school under a tree. It was probably the first time I has seen the urgency to teach and show love in a place that had very little of both. It was amazing to witness.
This week in the area of Battambang Cambodia my team have been doing life in a village. We stumbled across a local church as we walked about the community getting to know the area. From there we made connections and attended the youth group and their church service. All of which was so much fun, full of laughter, lots of high-fives and delicious food. One of my highlights was after church with the young women that lived there. We went into the surrounding villages and it was there I witnessed school under a tree all over again. It was so beautiful to see and it brought back so many amazing memories from my time in Swaziland. It was a sweet reminder of the importance of education and love.
